Believing in the power of dreams, which translates the brand’s worldwide slogan,  ‘The Power of Dreams’, HONDA made history. Since its foundation, the company prioritizes the safety and well-being of people and the preservation of the environment for future generations, developing efficient products with low emission of pollutants. A dynamic past and a promising future.  was founded. That year, Japan rose after being devastated by World War II. In the middle of the rebuilding process, Soichiro Honda was able to identify a business opportunity: the need for a fast and cheap means of transportation was increasing. Adding his expertise as a mechanic to an initial capital of 1 million yen and the work of 34 employees, he opened his engine factory in Hamamatsu city. The first invention was the auxiliary bike engine (named A-type), which would be the genesis for HONDA’s first prototype, the Dream D (98 cc) two-stroke engine, built in 1949. It was this year that Takeo Fujisawa, his inseparable companion, was playing an important role in the development of the company.

At this time the success of the company was due to the entrepreneurial spirit of overcoming challenges and seeking constant improvement to ensure the satisfaction of its customers. The following year the company launched the F-Type, a 50 cc motorcycle, which in less than a year reached the mark of 6,500 units sold per month. However, the product that would forever mark the history of HONDA came a decade later: Super Cub, the best-selling motorcycle of all time In contrast, the motorcycle market was growing at an accelerated pace with exports to various countries. To meet the growing demand of customers around the world, the company crossed the border to inaugurate its first overseas unit in 1959: the American Honda Motor Co, in the United States, where it popularized motorcycle use. From there, thereafter, in 1966, it was the turn of the small N360 car to debut on the market. Following the ‘produce where there is market’ philosophy, the 1970s were decisive for the expansion towards South and Central America. Perhaps the most important fact in the history of HONDA was the launch of the Honda Civic in 1972, a car that has become one of the best sellers in the history of the automobile industry.  The 90s began very well for the automaker, the ACCORD model became the best-selling car on the American market. Pre-tensioning seat belts and passenger airbags were also announced on their car models

2019 – HONDA BRIO

This week was presented at the Jakarta Salon 2018 the second generation of Honda Brio. It is the successful urban model of the Japanese brand that is very popular in Asia, which now grows up to reach 3.8 meters in length. The new generation of Brio was designed at Honda’s R & D center in Thailand, adopting a more global body, in order to take the small urban model to other international markets. Its design is a little more conventional, without the rear glazing that featured the model of the previous generation and a front in line with the latest launches of the Japanese brand. In addition to being longer, the second-generation Honda Brio is also taller and wider, which has allowed it to improve its interior capability. The interior was also reviewed, debuting a new design panel that can improve its presentation thanks to a richer equipment that includes an infotainment system with a touch screen of 6.0 inches. The most relevant equipment of the new Brio includes an integrated sound system, Bluetooth, USB, rear view camera, four-way power windows, central locking with remote control, automatic climate control, trip computer, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, daytime running lights in LED, alloy wheels, fog lights, etc. In the Asian market the new Honda Brio will be equipped with a 1.2 i-VTEC 16V engine that develops 90 hp of power and a maximum torque of 110 Nm, arising coupled to a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT-type automatic. With this new generation of Brio, more complete and larger, perhaps Honda can take this interesting urban to other regions, a model that will allow the Japanese company to compete outside Asia within an unheard segment.

The Honda Civic has received in the United States a slight aesthetic and technological update, both in its sedan and coupe versions. For the time being these improvements are restricted to the United States, but possibly soon to be extended to other markets. This upgrade, which comes with the purpose of maintaining the successful modern Japanese model, comes with some outside enhancements as well as some important updates to the device. The rear has also been revised, but the changes introduced here are quite light, as only a few trims have been renewed, such as a chrome-plated bumper on some trim levels. On the other hand, the 2019 line of the Honda Civic is enriched in the United States with the arrival of the new level of finish Sport, which gains a few sports touches that include bumpers of specific design and the chromed exhaust of polygonal format. Honda also took the opportunity to redesign the 10-spoke and up to 18-inch diameter alloy wheels, as well as showcase a revamped exterior color palette. The equipment of the Civic 2019 improves with a refreshed 7.0-inch touch-screen infotainment system, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. But the most relevant innovation of the revamped Civic is related to the Honda Sensing driving assist systems, which are now standard equipment throughout the American line. These road assists include, among other things, stand-alone braking in the city, frontal collision warning, track maintenance, track unintentional change alert, adaptive cruise control, etc.

The Japanese preparer presented his latest preparations and body kits for the latest Japanese brand launches at the latest edition of Tokyo Auto Salon, such as the new Honda Insight and Honda CR-V. But in addition to new customization accessories for these new models, a new Mugen version of the Honda Civic Type-R has also been unveiled. Named Mugen RC20GT, this new version of Mugen’s Honda Civic Type R completely breaks with the Japanese version of the hot hatch and features a distinct image in relation to it, as well as a new, more radical chassis configuration. The new Mugen Honda Civic Type-R RC20GT features a very distinctive front design, eliminating the massive Type-R standard air intakes to apply a front that looks like a DTM model with aggressive and futuristic side airbags and a somewhat peculiar front grille with a large hexagonal bezel in the center. The bumper has a lower splitter that extends to the sides, new side flaps and along the bulky wheel arches, several air vents that we understand must be false. On the side come new 20-inch alloy wheels and new skirts. The rear is also spectacular, with a bumper that forms part of the immense rear diffuser with a lone central exhaust outlet. In addition, there are also new flashlights with new LED signs and an impressive rear airfoil, which show a more elaborate and noticeably larger design than the standard Type-R. At the mechanical level there is nothing new about the conventional Type-R, but in terms of a chassis yes, because in addition to the huge 20-inch multi-wheel drive, there is a more sporty suspension scheme with new shock absorbers and a new brake system. This new Mugen RC20GT version of the Civic Type-R will be available for sale soon, but as usual, only for customers in Japan.

The Japanese manufacturer unveiled a new dynamic version of the Honda HR-V, which receives a treatment oriented high performance, including a new turbo 182 hp engine, as well as some adjustments to achieve a much more sporty setting. This is the new Honda HR-V Sport, a new trim level for the Japanese crossover, which features a more aggressive exterior aesthetics. The new ‘Sport’ will be recognized by its front part, which includes a specific format grille in lacquered black, and a new splitter, side sills, moldings in the wheel arches, a fender more robust design of the rear and a double exhaust outlet. The interior of this new level of finishing was also subject to revision, but with slight changes. It incorporates new front seats with more support and two-tone mixed upholstery. But as we said before, the improvements were not restricted to the aesthetic plan, since this new finish comes accompanied by a new mechanical proposal, a Turbo engine of 1.5 liters VTEC that develops 182 cv of power and 240 Nm of maximum torque available between 1900 and 5,000 rpm. The propeller is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT-type automatic. This improvement in available power is also accompanied by a new upgrade of the chassis, in order to improve its dynamic behavior. Suspensions on both axles have been improved and include the technology the manufacturer calls ‘Performance Damper’, a system that neutralizes lateral displacement of the vehicle, improving cornering behavior and reducing vibration when traveling over uneven surfaces. The beginning of its commercialization is scheduled for the next month of March 2019.
